Sight can be limited. Opportunities can't.
People who are blind face an astronomically high unemployment rate – not because they don't want to or can't work, but rather because they lack the opportunity to work. That's why we are on a mission to raise critical funds to support the Bosma Center for Visionary Solutions. The center is a training ground to teach independent living and employment skills to people who are blind or have limited sight. These skills give them the opportunity to pursue their dreams and live their own American Dream.
By 2050, the Center for Disease Control estimates the rate of vision loss is expected to double due to the country's aging population. But that doesn't mean independence is lost. We offer specialized rehabilitation services for seniors, ages 55 and older, who are experiencing vision loss. Through our community-based programs, we provide practical tools and support so they can live day-to-day life with confidence and freedom.
Each year, we serve hundreds of Hoosiers both at our state-of-the-art rehabilitation center and in homes throughout the state. Over the past three years, more than 70% of our clients were employed or pursuing higher education after completing our comprehensive rehabilitation program.
