Leader of the Year: Brian Petraits
Brian, as a member of the blind and visually impaired community, was able to find connections during his freshman year at Purdue University. He attended a lecture from the former chief executive officer of the National Industries for the Blind, who was also a Purdue graduate.
“You never know what networking will lead to,” Brian said.
For Brian, the lecture led to a career. After introducing himself to the speaker, Brian was connected to Bosma Enterprises for an internship opportunity. He’s now been with Bosma Enterprises for 16 years.
In that time, he’s worked his way up the organizational ladder. There’s no job that Brian won’t do — he’s always willing to lend a helping hand and ensure proper support along the way.
Bosma Enterprises has provided a platform for Brian to create opportunities for employees to succeed inside and outside of the workplace. Now, he’s looking for opportunities to give back to the organization and group of people who gave him so much, both personally and professionally.
Brian received his undergraduate degree from the College of Technology at Purdue University. During his time at Bosma, he obtained a master’s degree in nonprofit management, which provided perspective on what makes Bosma’s mission unique.
“The leadership team understands that individuals who are blind or visually impaired have an ability to lead at all levels,” Brian said. “We are qualified to make a significant impact on the organization and those who Bosma serves.”
Throughout his time at Bosma Enterprises, Brian has been pivotal in ensuring efficient business practices within the fulfillment facility located in Indianapolis. He looks forward to continuing to provide opportunities to those who are blind and visually impaired, while also fulfilling the needs of the customers who Bosma serves.
